Sf Bay Area: Project Save Ariel!

Dog Language and Training Retreat

Well, I just announced this a week ago in my newsletter and on social media, and I’m surprised and excited to say that the retreat is already half full!

But I shouldn’t get ahead of myself. Here are the basic retreat deets for those of you considering whether or not to come:

Date: May 1-3
Location: Scholl’s Valley Lodge in Hillsboro, OR
$640-$850 all included

Sf Bay Area: Project Save Ariel!

We’ll be in the main lodge, if you want to check out the photos. It’s in wine country, on top of a hill overlooking the valley. The pictures don’t even do it justice. There are 9 very large, luxurious rooms and a few cabins that people can use.

Retreats

Friday we start at 2 with people arriving, a chat about the lodge rules, and where to find things. At 3:15 we’ll head out on a group walk down through the trees and around a big field to a small pond. This’ll give everyone a chance to stretch their legs before the first presentation on dog language. We’ll have some dinner and dog introductions as appropriate. Because I don’t want to go home exhausted, there will be TV and wind down time before bed.

Saturday we’ll start with a lazy breakfast whenever people feel like it; it’s a make-it-yourself deal, with a bunch of options supplied. At 9:30 we’ll have a group walk, followed by photos, videos, and of course real-life examples of dogs and their language. We’ll spend the day studying dogs, learning how to find the right training techniques and implement them, and of course socializing and relaxing. I’m bringing my dog books for anyone interested in chilling out and reading more about dogs, and we’ll have some fun videos to watch.

Sunday we’ll delve deeper into training; how to do it, what works for each dog, how to use language to make it better. Check out is at 2, so there will also be time for packing up and exchanging contact info for people who’ve become friends.

I haven’t planned a menu yet since I always wait to see if there are dietary restrictions, but previous retreats and workshops have included baked mac ‘n cheese, vegan tacos, Thai food, BLTS, and curries! There will be snacks in the cupboards and refrigerator, along with coffee and tea — all included in the charge.

“And how much extra is all of that?” I hear you cry.

That’s the best part; I was able to find much less expensive insurance (don’t worry, it still covers everything that was covered last year), and I’ve passed that on to you guys. You get all of this, and when I say “all inclusive” I mean “ALL INCLUSIVE”! Depending on the room you pick, the cost is $635-$850 for the entire weekend, food, room, presentations, training, and everything!

By the end of the weekend you’ll know more about what your dog is saying than most dog professionals, you’ll have a much deeper bond with your dog that will only grow, and you’ll have a full weekend of training under your belt so your dog will be better behaved, better balanced, and happier!

There are few people out there teaching about dog language at all, much less in a retreat like this. Besides, who doesn’t want to go to a retreat with their dog?

Of course, all this said there’s only 9 rooms in the lodge and a few cabins (I’m checking on the cost of those and will put it on the website), and 3 of those rooms are already booked, with an additional 2 held for registration info to come in. Yikes! So even though the retreat is still a few months away, I suggest getting your space now. You can check information out on our retreat page, or contact me directly at either 951-704-5766 or [email protected]

Either way, I hope to hear from you soon!
