Translatingdog-com - Jenna With Her Dogs

Transforming Relationships Through Jenna’s Holistic Dog Training

With 25+ years experience, Jenna believes that all relationships can be improved through understanding and training, and that no animal is ever “too far gone.” Toward this end she runs workshops a few times a year, focusing on understanding dog body language

and using it to train. She knows that there is no one method that works for every dog, which is why she uses holistic dog training, and tailors methods for each dog and its human. She works with everything from aggression to anxiety to puppies, and she specializes in frustrated owners.

Jenna has over 25 years of experience rehabilitating, translating, and training dogs and their people. She specializes in frustrated owners, solving problems through teaching people how to “hear” what their dogs are saying, and using holistic dog training techniques. She even offers a no-charge guarantee if she can’t help.

❝ Jenna’s workshop made me a more confident dog owner! I learned key body language concepts in a fun and informative way. ❞

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Your Queries Answered for a Seamless Training Experience

If you aren’t satisfied at what you and your dog learned, whether in private sessions or at the workshop, we’ll give you a full refund, no questions asked. We’re that positive that this will change your relationship with your dog, and give you important tools to continue helping and teaching them.

Yes, but each dog needs a dedicated handler for safety reasons.

The smaller dog is inviting the larger dog to play

Check out this photo. The smaller dog is inviting the larger dog to play (ears), but he’s unsure what’s about to happen (hackles). His tail is still and he looks stiff overall. The translation? “I want to play, but I also want you to back out of my space, and when we play I need you to be aware of me. If you don’t, I’ll take this to the next level.” We can teach you a lot more than you think.

Certainly! Let us know you’re coming so we can take steps to ensure we have enough space, and Jenna may borrow your dog if you’re struggling, and to help you and your dog through the worst of it and make sure you can focus on the presentation aspects.

Don’t even worry about it. Settling down is the first thing we teach. We expect dogs not to know how to do so, and to be excited. At worst, Jenna will take your dog and work with them so you can focus. Then we’ll hand you your dog back so you can practice.

We sure can! The oldest dog Jenna ever worked with was sixteen. So, no, your dog is never too old to learn. However, if your dog has a physical limitation, be sure to let us know so we can adapt things for them.

That question must be answered on a case-by-case basis. Puppy language and dog language are slightly different (like toddler language and adult language are different in people). So reach out and tell us what’s going on, and we’ll help determine if the workshop is right for you.

We come to you to see what problems you’re having, where you’re having them. Understanding what’s happening in the moment according to your dog is crucial in knowing how to solve the problem.

I have a workshop I run twice a year (reach out to be put on the waiting list), but I don’t have weekly classes. There are many excellent trainers who teach them, and my talents lie in helping people one on one.

I can show you how to train your service dog, as well as help you choose a dog for those purposes. I’ve primarily trained psychiatric service dogs in the past.

We do holistic training, which means we combine what the dog is telling us, what the people are best at, and all the many, many training techniques Jenna has learned over the years to find the right technique for your pet and situation. This may mean different techniques for different dogs within the same household: at the same time Jenna had a shepherd who needed almost all positive reinforcement, she also had a pittie who got worse with positive reinforcement, and better with small consequences for poor actions. We believe that, like people, most dogs do best with a mix of training techniques designed for their mix of learning styles.

For private sessions we charge a $75 fee for canceling with less than 48 hours notice, unless you or your dog are ill.

For the workshop we ask for a 50% deposit, which is non-refundable within two weeks of the workshop.
